For here or to go?
Several weeks ago Joe, Catie and Millie took a four hour trainride north with a fellow-teacher to visit some friends and another American school.

The city we visited is much more traditional than our city and has a very old and storied medina. According to the guide books the medina has over 9000 roads and alleyways and it is very easy to get lost. We had our friends to guide us so we didn't get lost. We got a nice view of the medina from the roof of a carpet shop. ======>
We then bought some souveniers from a hole-in-the-wall (literally) shop and stopped at a packed-to-the-rafters spice shop. ======>
The proprietor of the spice shop gave us a little sales presentation, complete with sample smells. We got some ras al-hanout (a traditional blend of 45 herbs and spices), some jasmine oil, and some green lipstick.
Finally, we visited the famous tanneries. =====>
This is a visual treat, albeit not an olfactory one. They use a number excretory substances in the tanning process. They produce leather goods made from cow, sheep, goat, and camel. We bought a nice goat skin purse for Cyndi and some slippers for Catie.
The next day, after church we went across the street to have lunch at Les Arches d'Or. From the outside it looks like you might have found it in the US. =======>
Upstairs, however, the architecture is quite unique (for McDonalds, but very typical of local architecture). ====>

Hi, Joe and Cyndi! I tried to e-mail you, but couldn't get through to you. So, I'm trying this method. Millie's instrument choice has been approved. Please e-mail me so that I can tell you more. Thanks! Elissa
OK. We're coming up on your 5 month anniversary of not posting. You know that if it stretches to 6 months we have to delete your account, right? :-)
